Vainglory is a strategy game. From the moment you accept the match, everything you do matters; from hero picks, roles, and builds to every small move you make on the Halcyon Fold. This will be even tougher in 5v5 on the Sovereign’s Rise, challenging how flexible players are and pushing them to their limits. Never fear though, because we are here to help! December 17th was a great day, for along with the Worlds Finals, we were also treated with our first real look at the widely anticipated 5v5 mode to be added to our favourite mobile MOBA. Everything is bigger and better: the map, the minions, the krak- wait, is that a dragon? TWO DRAGONS? Where do I sign up?!
The Vainglory World Championship is coming in hot, with the best teams from all regions globally aiming to claim the title of world champions when they compete in Singapore from the 14th to the 17th of December. During 2017, the North American region has captured much of the spotlight from the Vainglory community, due to heated competition amongst many of its top teams along with a sizeable growth in its level of Vainglory play. At the 2016 World Championship, the three NA teams that competed all placed in the top 4, however were overwhelmed by the superior skill of Phoenix Armada (now ROX Armada) from East Asia, who claimed the inaugural title of world champions over Team SoloMid. This sparked a rivalry between the two regions, especially with Gankstars Sirius and Hammers Velocity placing third and fourth respectively. With the North American region performing much better internationally this year, and East Asia’s international form questioned for the first time, the three representatives of NA may well be the favourites to win the 2017 World Championship.
At the 2017 Vainglory World Championship in Singapore’s Kallang Theatre, the best teams from every region across the world will clash with each other to determine who will win the title of the greatest Vainglory team in the world. In this final article of our series on the group stages, we will cover Group D.
Group D is one which will take the spotlight. In a group with Team SoloMid, Hunters and ACE Gaming – three top teams – competition will be relentless. Before we begin our review of teams in Group D, it’s important to remember that during this phase of the competition each series will have two games. The number of victories will determine who exits the group stages!
During the 2017 Vainglory World Championship, held in Singapore’s Kallang Theatre from the 14th to the 17th of December, twelve teams from over the world will fiercely compete for the title. Continuing EZL’s coverage of the group stages, this article will focus on Group C.
This group is made up of three powerhouse teams: Impunity of Southeast Asia; ROX Armada of East Asia, the defending World Champions; and the wildcard team, Tribe of North America. All of these teams have performed brilliantly this year at various events, and tensions will be high when they first clash in the group stages. Each two-match series will be vital in deciding which two teams progress to the elimination stages of the tournament.
The 2017 Vainglory World Championship is an enormous esports event that simply can’t be missed. From the 14th to the 17th of December, the entire Vainglory community will be eagerly watching to see which team will be crowned the next World Champions in Singapore.
As we approach the launch of the championship, at EZL we are extremely excited to be able to hype up the event. In this article, we will take a look at the makeup of Group B of Worlds. At first glance, it appears to be a fairly balanced group: with each team having a decent chance to advance. However, at closer inspection a wildcard factor is revealed – the unknown quantity of the newcomers to the world stage, Team Kraken. Let’s explore the background of the teams that made it to this group, and predict what what will happen during the Group Stage of Worlds for these teams! As a reminder, each series in this stage will consist of two matches. Continue reading “EZL Explains: Worlds Group B”

EZL is excited to return with the next installment in the Roles in Vainglory series. This article will focus on how the eventual release of 5v5 in Vainglory will affect the position of the Captain. As the public reveal of the new game mode is slated to occur during Worlds in December, changes to the captain role are quickly approaching. Super Evil Mega Corp (SEMC) recently announced that a 5v5 show match will take place during the year-ending event.
SEMC have consistently released information about the progress and construction towards 5v5. The map preview that was recently released showed a design consisting of three lanes and jungle between all of these lanes. When we consider this three-lane map-design, it suggests that a team composition of one captain, one carry for each lane and one jungler is likely, although the positioning of the captain on the map is yet to be finalized. To further explore the future of the captain position, we first need to consider two key earnings in Vainglory: gold and experience.
