Estamos abiertos a sugerencias, cambios y consejos.”

EZL Season 1 Schedule

Phase 1: Preparation

Applications Close

On December 30th, 11:59 PM EST, Member and Captain applications for Season 1 will be closed for the North American Region. These applications are closed 48 hours before Draft Day so that Captains have adequate time to scout every applicant and not be surprised by last minute applications.

Draft Order

On January 1st 2017, Admins will enter all the Captains into a randomizer which will give the draft order. It is done 24 hours in advance so that Captains can prepare a draft strategy depending on the number they received from the randomizer.

Draft Day

On January 2nd, Captains will begin picking their players in a serpentine fashion. This means the captain given the first position will make their first pick, then the second captain will pick until the last captain. Then the second round begins from the last captain and works backward and the cycle repeats until every team is full.

Week 1

The first week will be known as Pre-Season. For the first week this will be shortened due to the holidays which delayed the Draft Day. This week will be only 4 days. This time is given to the teams to practice, get to know each other, set up their discords/bands or any form of communication that they wish to choose. Furthermore, the schedule for all the matches of the Regular Season will be given to all the Captains so they can schedule* their matches ahead of time.

*Note: These match times can be re-scheduled with 24 hours notice.

There will be two applications that become available on Jan 3rd. The Free Agent pool is a pool of players who can be drafted if an emergency occurs and a team is short a member for any reason. The Free Agent Application is for players who joined or heard of EZL after the season has already started, so instead of having to wait 12 weeks for the season to end, they can choose to be a free agent. Furthermore, at the same time, the North American Season 2 Member Applications will open.

Phase 2: Match Time

Week 2-Week 8

These weeks are known as the Regular Season. Each teams will be assigned to play 2 matches against one enemy team and 2 matches against another enemy team each week. The total number of matches will be 14 matches. These matches, no matter if lost or won, do not remove a team from the EZL. The seedings for the Playoffs will be derived from Win/Losses, but if there is a tie, the tiebreaker will be decided by the statistics sheet which will find which team has the highest amounts of points. If the statistics sheet is also a tie, a randomizer will decide which team will be seeded where.

Week 9-Week 10

These weeks are the Playoff weeks. These matches are played in a Best of 3, single elimination format, meaning if you lose the Best of 3, you are out for that season.

First place team will receive 2/3 of the ICE Prize Pool.

Second Place team will receive 1/3 of the ICE Prize Pool.

Post-Season

Weeks 11 and 12 are known as post season. During these weeks the top 8 Captains will be asked if they wish to stay on as Captains for the second season and all other members and captains are removed. If you are not a top 8 Captain, your Captain position is removed but you are most welcome to apply again for the second season as a Captain. Scouting will once again begin for the second season and take place during these two weeks.

OP-Playz

Announcing OP-Playz by EZL!

In an attempt to help build our members’ fame and popularity, we’re accepting clips/recordings of in-game plays. We will review each play submitted then choose around 10 to post on our YouTube channel. These plays will not only help get your name noticed by others in the gaming community or sponsors but will also serve to give our Captains something to take note of when they are picking players on draft day.

Once you have your recording, post your link on BAND or on Discord.

Welcome to EZL! – Everything you need to know

This article is meant to explain more about the EZL. Special thanks to Head Admin Skillz4Killz for the hour long interview! Links will be located at the end of the article.

What is the EZL?

From a professional perspective, the EZL is meant to be a global, multi-platform opportunity for players of any level of skill and age to compete for recognition and prizes. The cornerstone of the league is having fun and socializing with new people. For many younger gamers, parents who view gaming as a waste of time instead of something that should be respected and enjoyed by people of all ages is quite big struggle. Here at EZL we attempt to change the perception of gaming to instead be something respected and desired by both players and parents. In conclusion, EZL is a place for gamers to grow, improve, and socialize. At EZL we will host various games and championships with prizes and opportunities for people to make a name for themselves.

What makes the EZL unique?

  1. Draft: Captains will scout players and get to draft players to be on their team on Draft Day.
  2. Trades: Captains are allowed to trade players in a 1 for 1 trade.
  3. Global: The league will take place in all regions where there are enough players to participate.

Who runs the EZL?

Our head admin is Skillz4Killz.  Skillz is friendly and personable, so don’t be afraid to message him on Discord or Band! (Links can be found at the very end)

Season Information:

Each season consists of a time equal to each in-game season. For Vainglory, each season is approximately 3 months. The ideal goal is to have 32 teams per season, but this number can be shifted around to make sure that everyone has a chance to join in. Below is an approximate season breakdown.

Season Breakdown

1-2 Preseason weeks – Build synergy with your team and practice for the regular season

4-6 Weeks of regular season – Matches will be assigned at random. Standings will follow a score where every game will be counted and the seeding for playoffs is determined by Wins/Losses

1-2 Weeks of Playoffs – At the end of the regular season, all teams will clash it out in the Playoffs for a chance to enter and win the EZL Championship and receive top-notch prizes. Playoffs will be single elimination and each match is a best of 3. The first and third game draft order will be decided by the higher seed of the regular season.

1-2 Weeks of post season – During the post season All-Star games will be played where all participants and fans will vote for the most wanted players on the website. Each subdivision of the league will play against the other. This is also where Top 8 captains get to stay for next season and the others are removed but are able to apply again if wanted. Post-season is also where captains begin scouting the Draft Pool for the second season.

Team Information

  1. On draft day, captains draft five players from the pool of applicants. Drafts will be in serpentine fashion. Serpentine fashion is where a random order will be given to the captains a day or two before the draft. They will make the first round pick 1-32 and then go back 32-1, then 1-32 and 32-1, etc.
  2. Captains are in charge of scheduling players for matches according to match schedules and player availability. The captain does NOT have to be part of the team playing.
  3. While the captain has complete control over his team, kicking of a member is not allowed. All picks are final and players may not be replaced with anyone outside the team – except in the case of a player breaking a rule, which will result in the player being removed from the league or moved by trade.
  4. 1 trade per team is allowed during the preseason and 1 before the midpoint of the regular season.
  5. Teams made in EZL will be kept only on the website and not in game. Your in-game teams will remain as you wish.
  6. Teams are reset at the end of every season. Captains are also reset excluding the top 8 captains, though previous players and captains are still allowed to re-apply.
  7. To participate, you must have the qualifications to play draft pick.

Game/Match Information:

  1. A team will play four matches a week. Two matches against one team, and two matches against another team.
  2. Each match will consist of 3 draft matches.
  3. Playoffs will be played in a best of 3 (BO3) format, with single elimination

The championship matches will determine the prizes won by each team. Below is an incomplete (subject to change) list of prizes. As the EZL grows, prizes are only going to increase. So invite your friends, family, and even your biggest rivals. Crush your enemies on stream for the world to see and be forever kept in the records of EZLgg.com. Please note that distribution of prizes is still undergoing finalization regarding distribution of cash/ICE prizes for tournament winners.

Current estimates:

If  8 Teams participate in the Playoffs: 4500 ICE prize pool

If 16 Teams participate: 7200 ICE prize pool

If 32 Teams participate: 9000 ICE prize pool

Review/Key points:

  • Each season lasts around 3 months
  • Captains choose 5 people from a pool of players
  • Player picks are final, except for rare situations
  • Teams are ranked by wins and losses
  • 1 trade is allowed in the preseason
  • 1 trade is allowed before the midpoint of the regular season
  • Teams reset at the end of a season. Everyone is allowed to re-apply (including captains, but excluding top 8 captains)
  • Toxicity is not allowed

A few words from Skillz4Killz:

“Here at the EZL, we want people to participate and have fun, so be sure to get involved with the community to make the league friendly and available to all. This league is made by the community, for the community, and run by the community. We are very open to suggestions, advice, and change.”

If you have any other questions or suggestions please don’t be afraid to email us. You can also message us on Discord and Band! Thanks!

EZL Rules And Regulations

These are the Rules and Regulations and can be referred to by any member to contest or uphold decisions made by other players, the community, or its leadership.

Section 1: Rules and Regulations

All rules are subject to change if needed.

Anyone found to be in violation of these rules and regulations will receive a warning, and after 3 warnings you will be permanently banned from the EZL. Admins may ban someone and forego the 3 warnings depending on the severity of the issue at hand. In the EZL, we do not disrespect or harass anyone, whether they are a member or not, we show inspiring sportsmanship and we take constructive criticism well; we all have something to learn. All public posts, comments, and chats are required to be PG friendly. Therefore, the following behaviour is not allowed, among other things.

  • Profanity
  • Slurs
  • Player shaming
  • Nudity
  • Inappropriate behavior

Section 2: EZL Explanation

The EZL is a league intended for any competitive player from any skill level. In the EZL, a draft will be done near the end of every season to prepare the teams for the next season.

Scouting Period:

The weeks before the draft will be known as the scouting period. During this period Captains will be granted access to all the applications that have been sent in. They will then go through each application and decide to contact each applicant and scout each one by asking further questions, playing with members, or any other form of scouting they wish to conduct.

Draft Day:

On Draft Day, all Captains will be online on discord and on stream to make sure the entire process is held fairly. The order of the draft will be decided a few days in advance and will be completely random. The draft will occur in a serpentine fashion in order to keep it fair.

Preseason:

Once teams have been made, each team is given 1-2 weeks of preseason to prepare for the season. During this time, teams should feel free to practice as much as they would like, and begin to build synergy as a team.

Regular Season:

Each team will be playing against 2 other teams every week. All teams will be required to play 3 games against every other team. Game 1 and Game 2 will be draft with teams switching sides of draft between each. Game 3 will always be Blind Pick. Each game will count towards the Standings, which will be used to decide the seeding for the Playoffs. The better the team does during the regular season, the easier the road to the Championships will be for them during the Playoffs.

Playoffs:

Each team will be seeded into a bracket determined by the standings of the regular season. The playoffs will be played in a Best of 3 Single Elimination format. Once you lose, you are out. Winning gets you into the next round, and closer to the championship.

Players

The league consists of two types of members, they are known as Captains and Members.

Responsibilities (All responsibilities are subject to change as needed):

Captains:

  1. Keeping up to date with all changes, announcements, and important matters and making their team aware of all such things.
  2. Taking screenshots of post game scoreboards, whether it is a victory or not.
  3. Scheduling match times with other captains and reporting each match time.
  4. Keeping teammates aware of all match times.

Trades

Trading is allowed until the midway point of the Regular Season. A trade must be a 1 for 1 trade. Teams are limited to 1 trade in the pre-season, and 1 trade during the last week before the the midway point of the Regular Season.

Again, all of the rules and regulations are subject to change as time goes on. Thank you for reading, and we hope to see you on the Halcyon Fold.
